At FETC 2023, Lisa Wills from Ector County ISD Presents Session to Help District Leaders Ask the Right Questions When Choosing An Online Tutoring Partner

Wills’ concurrent session on Jan. 25 will also examine how online tutoring solutions, such as FEV Tutor, can counter ongoing unfinished learning

To counter ongoing unfinished learning, many districts are seeking evidence-based interventions such as high-impact tutoring programs. But what is high-impact tutoring and how can administrators find the right program for their district and schools? Lisa Wills, executive director of curriculum and instruction for Ector County Independent School District (ISD) in Odessa, Texas, will answer these questions and more in a 45-minute session at the 2023 National Future of Education Technology Conference (FETC) in New Orleans.

Wills’ session, “10 Questions to Ask Before Choosing an Online Tutoring Partner,” will be held Jan. 25 from 3 to 3:45 p.m. in room 201 of the New Orleans Convention Center. In the concurrent session, which is geared to K-12 administrators, Wills will share how her district is reshaping academic support for its students using high-impact tutoring. She will review design principles for effective tutoring, identify potential red flags, and share a checklist for evaluating evidence-based tutoring programs.

In her 34 years with Ector County, Wills has worked in all areas of education, from classroom teacher, curriculum specialist, assistant principal, principal, and director of literacy to executive director of curriculum and instruction. In her current role, she works directly with the district’s online tutoring programs, including FEV Tutor, to accelerate learning for students.
