IIT-Roorkee celebrates its 22nd Annual Convocation Ceremony; 2,022 Degrees Awarded to Students

The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee celebrated its 22nd annual convocation on Thursday. A total of 2,022 degrees were awarded this year, comprising 1,005 undergraduates, 638 master’s and 379 PhDs.

The awardees, their families, and the campus community enthusiastically attended the first annual degree awarding event in the physical mode.

Dharmendra Pradhan, Union minister for education and skill development and entrepreneurship was the chief guest.

“IIT-Roorkee has witnessed India’s freedom struggle and has been a leading institution in independent India’s growth story. And in this ‘amrit kaal’, IIT-Roorkee and all the graduating students must ensure a developed nation by 2047. It is a century of knowledge and under India’s presidency, the G20 theme being – “One Earth, One Family, One Future” based on millennium-old understanding and values of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam; IIT Roorkee and its students, faculty and alumni must create a plan on how they want to utilise the great opportunity of G20″, said the chief guest.

Leshna Balara from BTech (Computer Science and Engineering) was awarded a gold medal, while a silver medal was presented to Nikhil Choudhary from BTech (Electronics and Communication Engineering).

BVR Mohan Reddy, chairman, institute’s board of governors and director prof KK Pant addressed those present at the event.
