The Haryana School Education Board (HSEB) has signed a pact with the International Baccalaureate (IB) to provide training to teachers of government schools at par with international standards.
Education minister Kanwar Pal Gujjar signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Switzerland-based board at a private IB school in the city on Monday. “It is every parent’s dream to send their children to an IB-affiliated school. The collaboration will provide government school students access to the mode of teaching adopted by the teachers at international schools,” Gujjar said.
Students passing the state board exams will receive certificates signed by both HSEB, Bhiwani, and IB, Switzerland, hence increasing the value of these certificates at the international level, the minister added.
HSEB chairman VP Yadav was also present at the event, where Gujjar signed the pact with IB director-general Olli-Pekka Heinonen.
Gujjar said the students of Haryana will have international acceptance when they pursue higher education with these degrees. It will reaffirm their belief in Haryana’s state board, he added.
“HSEB is reaching new heights in the education sector and keeping pace with the technological era with full commitment. Libraries are being opened for children in rural areas of the state so that they can get the environment and facilities to prepare for competitive exams near their homes,” the minister further said.
The school education department has carried out the necessary amendments in the HSEB curriculum, preparing lesson plans and phased evaluation plans for first-time students, Gujjar said.
As many as 113 government secondary schools have been upgraded to senior secondary schools in the first phase.
