- Amity organised a 3 Day Residential Training Programme ‘Ensuring Access to Justice for Children’ from 4th to 6th July 2023
Amity Institute of Social Sciences (AISS), Noida Campus, in collaboration with Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation (KSCF), has organised a 3 Day Residential Training Programme, “Ensuring Access to Justice for Children”, from 4th to 6th July 2023 for 290 Project Managers and District Coordinators(volunteers) of KSCF.
Addressing the participants, Nobel Peace Laureate, Shri Kailash Satyarthi, averred, “Children are the future of the country, and it should be the social and moral responsibility of each citizen to ensure that every child’s rights are protected, and no child is exploited. The pledge for the safety and security of children has been taken by the District Coordinators who have gathered here today, from different parts of the country, for this noble cause. The responsibility lies on every individual’s shoulder, and they must have only one aim, i.e., to free children from child trafficking, child labour, child marriage and other social evils prevalent in the society. Advising the participants, he said, “Work tirelessly with fresh energy each day and ignite the flame of compassion and kindness in the hearts of other people, through your work, so that they get inspired to work for the country and its people. Dreams should give birth to new ideas, and one must move ahead with great self-confidence and belief in oneself.”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, stated, “Many children become a victim of child abuse, child labour and are married off at the tender age of 10-12 years, especially in the rural areas of the country. Therefore, it is critical that each citizen of the country takes the responsibility of saving children, thereby creating a positive and meaningful impact on the nation and inspire others too to work for a good cause. At Amity, one Semester of every Programme is specially dedicated to social work, wherein they can choose their area of work, by participating in Community Outreach Programmes, and other meaningful initiatives undertaken by different NGOs.”
Emphasising upon the need for protection of child rights, Social Activist and Supreme Court Advocate, Bhuvan Ribhu, asserted, “In the last three months, through our campaign, about 6,200 children have been saved from bondage across the country and 1732 FIRs have been registered, whereas in the year 2021, a total of 9,000 children were rescued and about 1,050 FIRs were registered. In addition, more than 10 lakh people have taken the pledge to save children from child marriage.”
Highlighting the significance of the Training Programme, Ravi Kant, Advocate Supreme Court, said, “The aim of the Programme is to stop child marriage completely and ensure justice for children. Participants from more than 270 districts, 17 states and 160 organizations, have gathered here for this Training Programme. Child sexual abuse and child trafficking are highly prevalent in many parts of the country and the need of the hour is to make all efforts to stop these crimes at any cost by 2030. The district coordinators must create networks and support each other to fight against these evils prevalent in society. “
A brief introduction to the Training Programme was given by Mr. Prashant R. Chauhan, Assistant Professor, Amity Institute of Social Sciences and the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Rajeev Bharadwaj, Managing Trustee, India Child Protection Fund.
