- Education minister Atishi highlights Delhi’s unique trend of students opting for government schools, inaugurates new branch with high hopes for enhanced learning efforts
Delhi’s educational landscape has been undergoing a noteworthy transformation, as more than 400,000 students have opted to switch from private schools to government schools, Education Minister Atishi announced on Friday. This phenomenon sets Delhi apart as the sole state in the country where such a substantial number of children are choosing to transition their education journey.
Speaking at the inauguration of a new branch of the BR Ambedkar School of Specialised Excellence (ASoSE) located in the heart of Kohat Enclave, Pitampura, Atishi expressed her conviction that this latest addition to the educational infrastructure will act as a catalyst, motivating students to elevate their academic endeavors.
She urged the students to maximise the utilisation of the state-of-the-art facilities provided at the new ASoSE branch, underscoring the commitment of the Delhi government to offer a top-notch educational environment.
Atishi reflected on the remarkable strides taken by the Delhi government to uplift the standards of government schools. “Our government schools have witnessed substantial improvements, and we take immense pride in the progress,” she declared.
Highlighting the scale of this transition, Atishi emphasised, “Over the past few years, more than 400,000 students have migrated to our schools. Delhi stands as a unique case in the nation, where children and their parents are opting to make the shift from private institutions to government-run schools.
According to details shared by the Delhi government, the newly inaugurated ASoSE branch in Kohat Enclave is set to cater to students from diverse regions, including Pitampura, Anandvas Resettlement Colony, Mongolpuri, Sultanpuri, and select areas in Rohini. This expansive four-story school complex boasts an array of facilities, encompassing a total of 50 classrooms, 9 laboratories, 2 libraries, administrative offices, faculty rooms, dedicated spaces for extracurricular activities, well-equipped sports facilities and even an elevator for enhanced accessibility. This comprehensive setup aims to provide students with a conducive and holistic learning environment.
