Member of Parliament, Tagore questioned the government about the total number of vacant seats, which amounted to 1456 and whether these seats remained unfilled despite exhausting all the permissible rounds of counseling.
Bharati Pravin Pawar, the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, reiterated that 1456 seats were indeed left vacant after NEET PG 2021 counseling.
She explained, “As per the directive of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, the MCC of DGHS was responsible for conducting 4 rounds of online counseling. However, MCC conducted 5 rounds of counseling for PG seats for the academic year 2021, which included a Special Round of counseling. Despite this, 1456 seats remained unfilled. The vacant seats pertaining to Deemed Universities were returned to the respective universities, following the guidelines set forth by the Hon’ble Supreme Court.”
To summarise, the NEET PG 2021 counseling process resulted in 1456 vacant seats, with some seats from Deemed Universities being returned to their respective institutions in accordance with the Supreme Court’s instructions.
