Great Lakes Institute of Management in Gurgaon recently played host to Sapience 2023, its highly anticipated annual management conclave. The two-day event focused on the theme of ‘Techvolution: A Redefining Moment for Business,’ shedding light on critical insights within Finance, Marketing, HR & OB, AI & Analytics and Entrepreneurship.
The keynote address at the conclave was delivered by Vimal Choudhary, Head and Board Member, McKinsey Knowledge Centre. Choudhary emphasised the importance of leadership in conjunction with technology, underlining that while technology can automate various processes, leadership remains inherently human, requiring strategic decision-making, team motivation, and adaptability.
In a panel discussion on Finance moderated by Dr Kirti Sharma, Associate Professor of Accounting and Finance, panellists stressed that technology’s evolution serves as a catalyst for business growth. They highlighted how technology sparks innovation, drives change, and fuels organisational expansion while advocating for eco-friendly practices to ensure technology serves as a force for positive change.
The Marketing track discussion, initiated by Dr Jones Matthew, Professor of Marketing, emphasised the synergy between marketing and technology in the digital age. Panellists discussed challenges and opportunities in leveraging technology to streamline marketing and advertising processes.
The HR and OB panel, moderated by Dr Sanghamitra Bhattacharyya, delved into talent technology, agile methodology in Human Resources and the role of Artificial Intelligence in this domain.
The Entrepreneurship panel, moderated by Prof S K Palhan and Prof. Harish Kumar, explored the significance of creativity, design and customer experience in entrepreneurship.
A panel discussion on Operations, led by Dr Surya Prakash, discussed technology’s impact on various domains.
Finally, the Analytics panel, moderated by Dr Jayatu Sen Chaudhary, highlighted technology’s changing dynamics and its influence across sectors, including banking, healthcare and content creation. The discussions underscored the pivotal role of technology in analytics and risk management.
